Track and Field Day

It was a great day yesterday. It was track and field day, which is one of the highlights of the year around here. They've been doing it for years, and it's just a good time. They have kept records on events for years, and many records were broken yesterday. One of the most exciting was the 5th grade high jump. Two boys tied the school record, and one of the boys broke the record by one centimeter. I know that's hard to picture, but to let you know, the bar came to their chin. It was so much fun to watch.

The highlight of my day, though, was the relay event at the end of the day. Our team was black, and we won it. They pick a representative from each grade to run for their class (Kindergarten and first grade run twice) and they each run a part of the relay. Each of the boys were picked for their class, which was really fun to watch. Nathaniel ran a 100. Christopher ran a 200 and handed off to Timothy. Timothy ran his 200 and put our team in first place (he was FLYING! No lie.) and then the last guy had to run a full lap. He kept the lead and they got first place. T took a picture of them with their ribbons, so I'll post it as soon as I can. It was fun to watch.

Oh, how fun! Sure wish we could have been there to enjoy it. I LOVE track meets. Reminded me of Chris's stardom at LH's track & field day when he was in the 3rd grade. Fun!
