Thanksgiving 07
This Thanksgiving was a bit more subdued than previous years, but with surprises nonetheless.
I order my turkey from a local restaurant, which has been the tradition especially since I started teaching again. It just makes the holiday a little less stressful for me, and ensures a good turkey meal for the rest of the family. The turkey is always good, though, and it's even fun running to the store at noon, waiting in line, and picking up the goodies. So this year, around 10 in the morning, we're sitting in the livingroom and we hear an adult voice outside yelling, "Chris! Chris!" We look out the window to see the driver of one of Christopher's friends. Christopher ran downstairs, and he delivered a full turkey meal: turkey, dressing, bread, gravy, cranberry sauce, salad and steamed vegetables! Oh my word. We were shocked. This is the same parent who referred Nathaniel to an eye specialist for the problem with his eye. It's so humbling to receive gifts like that.
Things were subdued this year because Nathaniel got sick the day before thanksgiving with a stomach flu, and then I got it the day after Thanksgiving. (You can't blame it on my cooking, now can you?) It took a lot out of me, but I got a lot of rest. Unfortunately, Em had a friend over for the weekend. I don't think they minded too much, but they did have to fend for themselves.
Anywho, we're getting our strength back just in time for school again. :)
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! From what I hear there were memories made in your homes as well.
