School Fight Song

Timothy found out, by looking on the school website, that he will have to know the school fight song at school. That makes two things he'll have to memorize when he starts school: the fight song and the Pledge of Allegiance. Yes, that's right. My kids have gone to international schools, so they don't say the pledge. They remember some of it from the six months they spent in the states six years ago, but they will need to refresh.

School songs can be just as important! Such is life in Texas, though. Texans love their sports, and fight songs rally the masses. They unify the student body. Bring them together at least for the space of a few minutes during a football game or pep rally. And they live on, connecting generations of students. Case in point: I am a proud LH High Panther, and when they won their SECOND straight football state championship, I was right there with them. So, without further adieu, I give you the Liberty Hill fight song:

LH High Forever
Come together stand
All that's true and faithful
Stead-i-ly we'll face-the-world-so-fearlessly-and
through the days that follow
We'll share our loyalty
for purple and white with all our might we'll fight
for victory
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

So as an MK that attended a MK international school... I totally relate! Here is my funny...
28 years old, and helping out in a daycare with 5 year olds. The teacher asked me to do the pledge with the kids while she ran an errand... I 'watermelloned' my way through it very softly congratulating the kids on how well they did... I had NO CLUE what the pledge was!!!! :D

Oh well...such is life! Make sure Em knows how to put gas in a car before she comes to college!!! That is another story!!!! LOL

Okay, you have me thinking. Now you have to remember that my 50th class reunion is coming up, so a few of the words are missing....Ü

Our dear Gaston High, we love your colors true, and pledge to you.
Our......and our........
we're ever loyal to you,
So dear Gaston High, we shout your praises to the sky,
For win or lose, we'll always
choose, our alma mater, Gaston High!

So there! Ü Ü

Alrighty... here goes!

This is our North High fighting song,
We sing with pride and joy,
Thru snow or rain, we'll win our game, (SNOW? In BAKERSFIELD?! HA!)
High shall our purpose be;
Fight, Fight, Fight for victory,
For fame and glory too,
To fight to win or fight to die,
Yes, North High we are for you!

Such heavy words for a football game!! I believe the tune for this was taken from the Coast Guard song or something like that!
