The Night of the Elf
Every Christmas Eve, we have a little tradition we've adopted (or adapted, however you want to look at it) since we've been here in Taiwan. Santa's "Elf" comes to visit, and leaves us a little gift. See, here in Taichung they have this wonderful thing called Gold Class. It's at the movie theater, and when you go there you get the royal treatment. (Kay and Kaysha can attest to this!) You sit in luxurious recliners while you watch a movie, and the theater staff brings your food to you on little trays. It's a real treat. This year, the elf brought us tickets to see National Treasure 2, and it was a great movie to see in Gold Class.
But the excitement only began there. Once we left we made our way to the van, and started looking for the keys to the van. We couldn't find them. Tim gave them to Christopher to hold, and that was the last anyone had seen them. So....backtrack to Chili's then Gold Class, but to no avail. We finally decided to take a taxi home, but knew we were going to have to figure out a way to get in, since the house key was on the keyring, too. San suggested that Santa could possibly bring us a new set. It was taken under consideration, I'm sure. All of that to say, though, that we now know how someone would break into our house if they wanted to get in, because that's exactly how WE got in. :)
We did make a memory, though, and I'm sure one day we'll be sitting around talking and someone will bring up the time we lost our keys on Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas, everyone, and hang on to those keys!
