Mr. Mockingbird Outside My Window....

We've got a family of mockingbirds just outside Em's window, and they are pretty noisy lately! They're teaching their young one to fly, and the young one isn't quite ready to leave the nest! It sure makes for some noisy mornings, though. ("It's a sin to kill a mockingbird, it's a sin to kill a mockingbird....")

*edit*

The mockingbirds are just a few of the critters we find around our home. Of course there are the piles of fireants that about here in central Texas, but some fun things, too. There was the possum that decided to take a nap in our bushes one cold night, the little rabbit we find in the back yard occasionally, the redtail hawk that keeps an eye on things, but is usually chased off by other birds, the squirrels, the cardinal that came through our open door to catch a june bug then flew away....then there are the beavers. T, Em and I have this route that we walk, and it goes over a creek. One night we heard some splashing, and so the next night T brought his flashlight. Lo and behold, there was a family of beavers. The big daddy (not to be confused with Big Dad) slapped his tail on the water, and they all scattered to the other side of the bridge. So, of course, we ran to the other side of the bridge. We tried to slowly look over the side, so as not to scare them, and there they were. A mom, a dad, and a baby. They just floated around, eating cattails. We've never seen them during the day. Only at night. But I"m loving all the critters!
